At Beat It Drum School in Glasgow, one-to-one drum lessons cost £18 for 30 minutes or £25 for 60 minutes. Most families choose the monthly subscription instead: £60 a month for a weekly half-hour, or £83.33 a month for a weekly hour. Your first 30-minute lesson is a free trial, so you can try it before paying anything.
What you get for the price
Every lesson is private and one-to-one, so the whole session is built around you or your child: your level, your goals and the music you actually want to play. There are no group classes where you wait your turn.
You don't need to buy anything to start. We provide professional drum kits and drumsticks in every lesson, so there's no kit to buy before your first lesson. If you already have sticks you like, bring them along.
Lessons take place in our studio at 567 Shettleston Road in Glasgow's East End (G31 5JT), with free off-road parking and a waiting area for parents. Every tutor is PVG-checked.
30 minutes or an hour?
- 30 minutes (£18) suits younger children and most beginners. It's long enough to learn something new and short enough to stay focused. We teach children from age 6; see what age can kids start drum lessons?
- 60 minutes (£25) suits intermediate and advanced students, or adults who want more time to work on technique and songs.
Not sure? Your tutor will recommend the best length after the trial, based on age, level and goals.
How the monthly subscription works
The subscription covers 40 teaching weeks a year, spread into one simple payment each month. That keeps your weekly slot and means there are no per-lesson invoices to remember.
It works out at the same price per lesson as paying for each one:
- £60 a month × 12 months = £720 a year for 40 half-hour lessons, which is £18 a lesson
- £83.33 a month × 12 months = about £1,000 a year for 40 one-hour lessons, which is £25 a lesson
So the monthly payment is the same amount each month, even in months with fewer lessons.
If you can't make a lesson, let your tutor or our team know as early as you can. With enough notice, missed lessons can usually be rearranged.
Are there extra costs?
There are no hidden fees on our lessons. A few things are optional:
- Grade exams. We prepare students for recognised drum grades, from debut level to the higher grades, but grades are entirely optional. If you want to sit an exam, ask us about entry fees first.
- Practising at home. You don't need a kit at home to start. When the time is right, your tutor can advise on what to practise on.
Is the free trial really free?
Yes. Every new student gets a 30-minute trial lesson free, with no obligation. It's a chance to meet your tutor, see the studio and try a proper lesson. If you'd like to carry on afterwards, we'll set up your weekly slot and monthly payment. If not, there's no pressure.
